Kyoshi Steve LaVallee Promoted to 8th Degree Black Belt
Kyoshi Steve LaVallee, the founder and Chief Master Instructor of USA Black Belt Champions was awarded his 8th Degree Black Belt on December 6th in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
He was promoted by Master Fred Degerberg from Chicago. Participating in the ceremony was Hanshi Rod Sanford, a 9th Degree Black Belt from California, Professor Garland Johnson from Colorado and Shihan Moti Horenstein of Miami.
It was a packed house as Kyoshi demonstrated, along with 33 other Black Belt graduates. The energy and support was outstanding for each performance. The USABBC Masters Council and many of our USA Sensei also performed in honor of their long time teacher, friend and mentor.
Team performances included a dynamic black light glow show, weapons routines, USABBC's Extreme Martial Arts Demo Team, Mixed Martial Arts, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Kenpo Karate and many more exciting and outstanding performances that ignited the crowds enthusiasm and ended with a standing ovation when Kyoshi was awarded his belt.
A philosophy Kyoshi has stressed for many years is...Martial Arts for a Great Life. Kyoshi has dedicated over forty years of his young life to Martial Arts and continues to train on a daily basis. One of his core beliefs is...
"Everyday we train is a great day...which is why we train everyday!"
He simply believes that everyday you should live as a Martial Artists. Being a Champion is not just training or acting a certain way when you walk into the dojo. It's working toward self improvement everyday in every way. Training everyday is more than just a physical workout, it includes mental study and emotional improvement as well.
Congratulations to Kyoshi and the rest of the South Florida graduating Black Belt Force on their well deserved achievement!
Guiness World Record Bat Break Set by Shihan Moti Horenstein
• 8th Degree Black Belt
• 5x World Kickboxing Champion
• Former Israeli Special Forces
• Actor, starred in film Miami Vice • NEW World Record Holder for 38 Baseball Bats broken in 1 min
Shihan Moti Horenstein, began training in the Martial Arts at only 5 years old. He credits the Martial Arts to the healthy, disciplined and goal oriented lifestyle he leads today. Currently, he operates 2 highly successful schools in NY and Miami, FL. And, he is mentored by his good friend, Kyoshi Steve LaVallee. Moti feels the discipline and structure of the Martial Arts are some of the greatest benefits you can give to any child. As a World Champion and highly respected expert in the field, he now gives back to the community by passing on his knowledge and experience to his students. He helps influence kids to set goals in life, create visions and dreams of what they can become.
Shihan Moti still continues to be a student. Setting and achieving his World Record Bat Break has only motivated him to train harder and set even tougher goals for himself. Congratulations Shihan Moti!

Kyoshi Performs at our recent Black Belt Spectacular!
Chief Master Instructor and Founder of USA Black Belt Champions, Kyoshi Steve LaVallee performed a dynamic Jiu Jitsu Self Defense Demonstration at the Parker Playhouse in FTL.
It was in front of a sold out crowd and was part of our Black Belt Spectacular on April 5th.
He dedicated the demonstration to his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instructor for the past ten years, Professor Pedro Valente. He also dedicated it to Grand Master Helio Gracie, the founder of Gracie Jiu Jitsu, who at 95 years old, is a living legend. Helio still teaches and practices Jiu Jitsu and travels the world promoting his art.
Last year, Kyoshi had the honor of meeting and training directly with Helio at the Gracie Academy in Miami. It is no secret that Jiu Jitsu is one of Kyoshi's favorite Martial Arts, along with Muay Thai and the Israeli Combatives (Hisardut/Krav Maga/Haganah).
Master LaVallee is currently in training for his 8th Degree Black Belt and is eligible to be promoted in December. Like any candidate training for a higher rank....Good Luck!
